Heads up!
The Moths of this district were shocked to hear of the brutal attack on our friend Charlie Baty late last week. If ever there was a man who didn’t deserve to have this happen to him, it was Charlie. We wish him a smooth and speedy recovery. The word from the Zambian front is that former Lowveld Moth Bruce Tweedie has popped up and joined Three Dice Shellhole in Kitwe (Zambia’s Copperbelt province). Let’s hope we start getting more despatches from that end soon. A message from Lt Col Godfrey Giles, National Chairman of the Reserve Force Council Association: “The Reserve Force Council Association (RFCA) was very pleased to hear that the Warrant for the Closure Commemoration Medal has been signed by the President. This means that the 10,000 medals that have already been minted can now be distributed by the SA Army. The SANDF has spent many years in the creation of this new medal and overcome many hurdles, and we congratulate them on ensuring this positive outcome. The RFCA wishes to ensure that every Commando member who is eligible for the medal receives it with dignity at a parade wherever possible. The medal may be awarded to Officers, Warrant Officers, Non- Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks who have served in the Commandos and who, on or after the 27 April 2003, had completed five (5) years qualifying service, which need not be continuous, in the Commando's as provided for in accordance with the provisions of the Defence Act.” Should you have any queries you can email
